Getting Help with Workday
By Workday Project TeamNow that Bowdoin's use of Workday has expanded to both HR and Finance tasks, with Student just down the road, who to go to for help may become unclear. After all, not every task in Workday is very obviously HR-related or Finance-related - some things could seem like both. Or either!
First, we have added a Workday area to our Knowledge Base to help users quickly and easily find the information they need. Over time, the PDFs we currently have on our HR and Finance page will make their way to becoming Knowledge Base articles. This helps ensure that our materials are accesible to users of all abilities, kept in a single consistent location, and up to date!
Next, we have rolled out support tickets for Workday! If you are having issues with Workday, or if you would like to request something new that is related to Workday, you can use this link and your ticket will be sent to the right person to handle your needs. By asking users to put their requests for assistance into a ticket, it allows the full Workday team to have a clear sense of where we are experiencing issues. This can help us understand where we need to add or edit job aids in our Knowledge Base, help us quickly find processes that aren't working correctly and get people aligned to troubleshoot, and it allows a team of people to better understand the system more holistically. This helps keep us out of situations where only one person has sufficient knowledge to answer a user's question.
That said, if you know exactly who your question should go to, or it's more private or sensitive than you really want to put into a ticket, you can always contact someone in one of the offices directly. Depending on the circumstances, they might help you or they might ask you to go ahead and submit a ticket anyway. There are many ways to get help with Workday at Bowdoin!
For Finance, here is a link to our training page! It is chock full of goodies designed to help you use and understand Workday Finance.
