Programs

Upward Bound serves students year-round in two components: the summer program and academic year outreach.

Students typically apply to the Upward Bound program during the spring of their freshman or sophomore year. Admitted students participate in a summer on-campus residential experience at Bowdoin College- in the summers before sophomore, junior, and senior year of high school.

During the academic year, Upward Bound advisors visit students in their schools monthly to provide academic counseling and support, college preparatory guidance, and career exploration.

It is a great learning experience, it is fun, and you meet a lot of new people. The people of Upward Bound are the best people I will probably ever meet. The air is just filled with nice feelings and friendship. You meet so many people, and make so many new friends. I wish I could bring them home with me!
