Mike Woodruff

Affiliation: Outing Club
Outing Club Director
Upon completing his degree at Bowdoin Mike headed to the Southeastern United States to pursue his lifelong passion of paddling whitewater. During his 5 years in the region Mike kayaked, canoed, and rafted many major rivers, minor tributaries, and flooded creeks in the area. In ’92 Mike returned to the rivers of Maine to work with BOC director emeritus Jim Lentz. Since then Mike has overseen and managed the BOC’s explosion of growth to become the largest student organization on campus. Mike’s passion for whitewater, the outdoors, and student leadership has inspired and empowered countless numbers of Bowdoin students and established the outing club as an iconic fixture of the Bowdoin campus. While not teaching whitewater paddling, telemark skiing, or outdoor leadership Mike is a burgeoning organic farmer and lives on a farm in Brunswick, Maine, with his fantastic (and very patient) wife, Lucretia (former Co-Director of the BOC), and their sons Finnegan, Seamus, and Daire, and daughter Maeve.
