Ray Maresca
Assistant Professor of Mathematics
Professor Maresca’s research lies in abstract algebra. He likes to study representations of theoretical structures called algebras, which often arise from ‘quivers’. These representations are usually simpler and can be used to develop a deeper understanding of the algebra. Representations can be studied using techniques from other areas of mathematics like geometry and combinatorics, allowing Professor Maresca to draw lots of pictures that encode the representations of the algebra in a pleasant visual package.
