Three Years in German History

By Tom Porter
As 2018 drew to a close, faculty and students from Bowdoin’s German department gathered to look back on three important years of the twentieth century in German history—1918, 1938, and 1968—and how they are connected.

In this short video, the trio of professors who led the discussion share their views on these three historic years.

German students, and other members of the Bowdoin community, gathered in Moulton Union's Lancaster Lounge for the presentation and discussion. There was also an opportunity for the students, some of whom were preparing to leave for a semester abroad, to talk with their professors more informally, and enjoy some traditional Germanic delicacies!
