Policy: All individuals applying for work at Bowdoin College for benefits eligible positions must complete an employment application via our online Careers site. No individual, including internal candidates, may be hired without completion of an application. Individuals who have previously worked at the College are subject to the same application process as new hires.
All hiring managers must contact Human Resources to verify eligibility considerations for re-hires PRIOR to the offer of employment.
Internal Applicants – Current employees are eligible to apply for other campus positions once a satisfactory, 6-month adaptation period is complete. Staff members who are then hired for a new opportunity in another department will also serve a probationary period for the new roll, depending on the nature of the position.
Non-benefit eligible (casual) employees may apply to benefit eligible positions without a waiting period.
When and if serious consideration is being given to a current employee, the employee must notify their current supervisor of the possibility of a transfer no later than the start of the interview stage of the hiring process.
