Mila Bonometti ’26: Research Intern at TRACTS, VA Boston
By Mila Bonometti ’26
The Translational Research Center for Traumatic Brain Injury and Stress Disorders (TRACTS) is a longitudinal research study located at VA Boston Healthcare System. The research focuses on traumatic brain injury (TBI) and PTSD in Veterans to better understand and treat those with physical, cognitive, and emotional problems. As the summer intern, I carried out projects including literature reviews, neuropsychology assessment scoring, data entry for ongoing research projects, and completed the summer with a presentation of my own. I worked directly with those from a wealth of careers including neuropsychologists, imaging technicians, clinical psychologists, research assistants, exercise physiologists, data analysts, and more. Engaging in an environment in which a variety of disciplines works together for the benefit of the Veteran population was not only a meaningful experience, but also helped me piece together my own career goals. Some of my best memories include learning about novel theories regarding the relationship between TBI and stress disorders, acting as a participant in a study in which I had my own MRI, and receiving guidance from and connecting to the incredible TRACTS team.
