Will Childs ’28: Summer Intern at LX Ventures

• This summer I had the opportunity to intern at LX Ventures, a multi-sector company based in Lisbon, Portugal, with business activities focusing mainly on property development and climate consultancy.
• Throughout the summer I worked on several of LXV's projects, namely the rehabilitation, development and listing of four neglected properties in the Portuguese historical town centers of Peniche and Setúbal. I was also involved with the drafting and translation of documentation related to LXV's involvement with the Galp Caxias Living Lab, a carbon-efficient community near Lisbon that consists of 20 buildings powered by over 200 solar panels.
• Looking back on the summer, I learned that I enjoy working in a multifaceted environment, where no two days are the same and there's room for creativity and adaptability. Because of this, and as I think about my future, I discovered that I want to work in a highly collaborative environment, in which teams rally around a common goal, and where brainstorming and initiative aren't just valued, but highly encouraged.
• I found that my favorite part of this internship was getting comfortable navigating the tougher days, when external delays or unexpected issues had to be dealt with. I noticed that, in these moments, instead of letting stress and individualism take over, our team would fall back on communication and collective problem-solving.
• While working on the renovation of the Peniche properties, I managed the 3D renderings of the buildings and therefore learned how to annotate and modify architectural plans. I also learned to shoot and edit drone footage to create real estate marketing videos.
