This past summer, I was exposed to the riveting world of public transportation as an intern at Foursquare ITP, a multi-modal transit firm that works to develop creative, practical and sustainable solutions to transportation problems throughout the country.

Throughout my 10 week-long internship, I worked on a variety of projects and strengthened my skills in geospatial analysis, statistical modeling, and transportation service planning. I helped redesign bus service standards throughout the DMV, develop regression models to redefine dwell thresholds in WMATA's Metro system, analyze land use and ridership demographics in Houston's Park and Ride lots, and optimize bus routes in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Foursquare also played a major role in DC's Better Bus Network Redesign which was a regionwide remodeling of WMATA's bus network. Living in DC and working in transit during such a transformative time for the city was such an exciting hands-on way to continue learning about urban systems, even though I had to say goodbye to some of my favorite bus stops!
