Working with the Cape Cod Baseball League
By Kevin Murray ‘25This summer, I was an Analytics and Advance Scouting Intern with the Wareham Gatemen, helping future Major League Baseball players prepare for their opponents.
The Wareham Gatemen are a collegiate summer baseball team in the Cape Cod Baseball League. “The Baseball Operations Educational Program is the only such program in the Cape Cod League and is comprised of the general manager and a group of specialized interns from around the country who are working towards a career in professional baseball.”
Our team of interns created daily scouting reports on the opposing team for that night. We also continuously searched for players to add to our team for the current and future seasons. I learned how to effectively communicate the scouting reports to the players, catering to each of their styles of learning and preparation. This experience strengthened my aspiration to pursue a career in baseball operations. My favorite part was making relationships with the players, interns, and coaches that will continue throughout my career.
