Selkirk Partners is a firm that focuses on a global long/short equity strategy. The firm is driven by deep fundamental research leveraging our operational and audit experience to assemble a thematic, concentrated portfolio of high-conviction ideas.

Throughout the summer, I conducted research on current and potential investment opportunities for Selkirk Partners. My work heavily involved analyzing companies poised to benefit from the increasing application of AI across industries. By engaging with industry experts and studying market trends, I was able to better understand the process of how fund managers attempt to predict which companies are likely to emerge as leaders in the AI space.

During my time at Selkirk Partners, I also gained a better understanding of how to model companies and became more proficient in Excel, as well as learned different ways in which funds manage risk. My favorite part of the internship was participating in calls and meeting with Bowdoin alumni and other hedge fund managers, where I gained valuable insights into various investment approaches and strategies.

This experience taught me the importance of thorough market research and the fast-paced nature of the financial world. The internship solidified my desire to pursue a career in finance and further exposed me to the different financial sectors that make up the industry.

Internship funded by the Robert S. Goodfriend '57 Summer Internship Fund.
