Navigating and employing market dynamics, risk management strategies, and quantitative modeling techniques

Pebblestone Energy is a small trading company that mainly trades in ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas) using congestion revenue rights. My main responsibilities included using SQL to fetch large amounts of data from the ERCOT database and then building models using that data. By immersing myself in the fast-paced environment of energy trading, I deepened my understanding of market dynamics, risk management strategies, and quantitative modeling techniques, all of which are essential for a successful career in trading. Moreover, I was able to collaborate with the other traders and leverage their expertise to refine my trading knowledge and decision-making processes.

My favorite time of the internship was when my brother and I got to compare our models and discuss (viciously argue) how we arrived at our conclusions. At the end of the summer looking back, I took away a lot from the whole experience and will use this as a stepping stone toward achieving my future career goals in trading and finance.
