Learning How to Build, Operate, and Grow a Business
By Ethan Danielson ‘26
Building and executing a plan for expanding a small business
New Image Leasing is a veteran and Bowdoin alum owned furniture leasing company based in Denver.
I conducted cost analysis, worked towards creating a comprehensive customer acquisition plan, and created a plan for opening a branch of the business in Salt Lake City.
- It was valuable to get gain work experience in the small business environment.
- New Image had no playbook as far as opening a new location, so I had to work from scratch, learning from those in the company, to come up with an actionable plan.
- I learned an immense amount about marketing having no experience in the area before.
- I came away with far more appreciation for the work that goes into growing, and even simply operating, a business.
- I enjoyed daily morning meetings with the New Image team where I was able to share my ideas, listen in on issues, such as a broken delivery truck, and hear about new partnerships we were pursuing.
- I also enjoyed being able to work from home with my family and dogs.
