Neoclease is a biotech startup working on developing novel nuclease protein sequences for specific genes of interest. Neoclease harnesses the power of synthetic biology and generative AI to develop custom nucleases, gene-editing enzymes designed to target specific genes or diseases.

Major projects:

  • Strategic development of language models and exploring different methodologies of language models for biomedical use cases.
  • Machine learning planning and model training

This internship allowed me to learn and explore new use cases of artificial intelligence and machine learning in the biotechnology industry through strategic and innovative thinking. I explored different types of language models and their application for bio/pharma, and worked on summarizing and comparing small language models (SLMs) to large language models (LLMs). Given the high sensitivity for accurate and scientific data needs, I explored a multimethod approach between scientifically controlled data and the opportunities that AI brings to the industry.
