The Center for Maine Contemporary Art (CMCA) catalyzes new developments in contemporary art by curating innovative exhibitions and education programs. CMCA opens new channels for interaction and discussion, and expands access to art, artists and the creative process. While at the CMCA I worked on many projects including planning fundraisers, lessons, installation, exhibition budgeting, online shop management, and graphics for advertisements and social media.

This internship made me realize how passionate I am about making art accessible to the community I’m within and how powerful it can be. I learned how to handle and install artwork and maintain facilities which is a very helpful tool to have, as well as learning how a non-profit arts organization runs! I enjoyed leading lessons for kids in the community in the galleries and exposing them to contemporary art in fun ways.

Internship funded by the Ajmera Intership Fund.
