Baysal Law Firm, located in Istanbul, Turkey, is a legal service and consulting agency. The motto of the firm is to seek and protect the rights and to be by the side of needed with the legal services.

During my internship, I had a chance to work side by side with the founder attorney and mediator Burçak Baysal Atalay on her legal cases. One of the cases that we worked on together was an Employer- Employee case, in which our firm represented the Employer. During the lawsuit, I came to understand the importance and the power of the witness statements on judge’s decision. The way that our witness affected the direction of the case with his body language and self-confidence leaded us to win the case at the end. In a country where the ratio of the cases won by the Employer is very low, it was a really impressive one to see. I remember feeling the rushing adrenaline in my blood, after seeing the running silhouettes with long vestments through my first step into the courthouse during my earlier internship. This time, it was even more fulfilling since I was actually working on the cases and brainstorming next to an attorney whose work I very much respect.

I ended up writing suit statements, filing and sending them to the courthouse to be added to the case, taking notes for every meeting we had with the clients. There was no better way to evaluate myself closely in this industry than to pursue this internship. Now, I know for sure that I will be applying to law schools around the world upon my graduation.

As I said while applying to the fund, every second another case gets deferred to a later date, one more person gets unjustifiably put in jail, another gets notified of her motion date. It is a non-stop world, and I very much appreciate the chance to see this world from a close shot.
