Sealand Securities Co. Ltd is a provider of various financial services. The company is engaged in securities brokerage, securities-related consulting, securities underwriting and sponsorship, securities investing, and asset management in China.

I was introduced to factor investing this summer. With the assistance of my mentor, I learned how to perform data extraction, data cleaning, data training, data modeling, and data testing. I became familiar with different models, such as linear, logistic, XGB, SVM, and RF, which helped me choose the best-fit model for different scenarios. I also found it cool to use packages to convert non-numerical values into inputs for my machine learning model. These skills have enabled me to build models and identify what constitutes an effective factor.

I personally prefer challenging work that allows me to learn new skills every day rather than easy and boring tasks. For my future, I am interested in pursuing a data science-related career. Additionally, I am eager to explore more interdisciplinary areas, such as Tech + Education or Tech + City Planning. I spent two weeks completing the five-month-long IBM Data Science Specialization, and now I feel comfortable using Python, Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-Learn, SQL, and PyTorch.

I enjoyed having lunch with my department colleagues, which was both fun and helpful. It provided a great opportunity to engage with my colleagues and learn from their valuable career experiences.
