Sharing Stories Through Filmmaking
By Anisa Pouriet ‘24I worked as a production studio intern at a NYC filmmaking, non-profit organization named Reel Works where I participated in the pre-production, production, and post-production processes of various projects.
Reel Works empowers and mentors NYC youth to share their stories through filmmaking. As a production studio intern, I had the opportunity to learn how to operate a professional camera and other filmmaking equipment, produce lots of content, and edit promotional content for Reel Works. Some of the events I got to shoot includes the mayor’s visit, a local film festival, and youth events at Paramount and Warner Bros. I also had the opportunity to be the Head Production Assistant for a short film, while also developing a short script of my own.
I had a wonderful time working at Reel Works and I am extremely grateful for all the new skills that I learned. It was an honor and a pleasure to be a part of such an inclusive and empowering environment, and I hope I get to work with them in the future!
Internship funded by the CXD Internship Fund.
