Engineering in the Sea, Land, and Air
By Charlie Apolinsky ‘26Maritime Applied Physics Corp. is an innovative engineering firm that provides support to small and large programs for a wide range of systems on sea, land, and air. From collaborating with the U.S. Navy to helping develop the future of renewable energy, MAPC maintains a diverse range of meaningful projects.
During my internship, I designed components for DARPA’s new Liberty Lifter program, assembled mechanical systems for Navy ships, and developed quality assurance packages for Government Source Inspections. It was exciting working on cutting edge technologies and my wide range of responsibilities meant that I was never bored!
Through personalized instruction, I improved my skills in SolidWorks and computer aided design. I was also taught hands-on techniques such as soldering and operating power tools that will be valuable in my future. I appreciated that everyday promised a new challenge and opportunity to learn. Thanks to this internship, I have developed a better understanding of engineering and gained a greater appreciation of how complicated our mechanical world is!
Internship funded by the Scott and Anne Perper Internship fund.
