Teaching Fellow
By Shoshi Gordon ‘24Breakthrough’s Mission Statement: ”The dual missions of Breakthrough Manchester are to launch promising Manchester middle school students, particularly those with limited opportunities, on the path to college while inspiring high school and college students to pursue careers in education.”
This summer I worked as a teaching fellow at Breakthrough Manchester in Manchester, New Hampshire. I LOVED this job. My coworkers and students are some of the most passionate, excited, engaged, people I’ve ever met and I feel so fortunate that I had the opportunity to! Being a teaching fellow has made me confident in my choice to become an English teacher and given me invaluable experience in the field!
Some of my responsibilities:
- Teaching 7th grade writing to 2 classes
- Mentoring an advisory of 4 students
- Leading student council and executing events for 100+ students
- Leading parent teacher conferences, writing student evaluations, administering assessments
- Participating in and coming up with fun events!
