This summer, I worked at the University College Hospital of Ibadan, Nigeria.  A federal teaching hospital whose mission is to render excellent, prompt, affordable, and accessible health care to all members of its community; and foster an environment that produces outstanding doctors, innovative thinkers, and relevant research.

For nine weeks, I shadowed various departments such as Pediatrics, Surgery, Medicine, Accident and Emergency, and Obstetrics and gynecology. I attended departmental lectures and tutorials on various health topics and surgery procedures; I observed surgeries, patients and doctor interactions, and learned about resources management of patient care in an environment with limited resources.

My summer highlights include assisting in treating a trauma patient, meeting new people and building connections, and learning how to do CPR.

This internship was funded by the Student Internship Fund.
