Creating the script and sound design for a podcast episode
A cover of the podcast episode, titled "Road Trip Collection: Science Pirates"

Tumble Media produces educational podcasts for children. Working as an intern for their Science Podcast for Kids, I wrote the script for and produced an hour-long special episode. The episode was a compilation of past episodes, for which I wrote a pirate adventure narrative to link all of the stories of science and discovery together into one larger episode. After editing the audio together, I created the sound design, adding various sound effects so that the viewers would feel as if they are actually out at sea on a pirate ship. Additionally, I developed my copywriting skills as I managed social media content for the company’s Instagram and Facebook. I also honed my audio editing abilities working for the Tumble Kids Yoga Adventure Podcast.

I learned so much from this internship. I was really fortunate that I was able to wear a lot of different hats within the company. I grew creatively as I wrote copy and scripts, while also strengthening my precision and attention to detail as I spliced together re-tracks in episode audio. After this internship, I am now confident in my desire to pursue a career in film production.

This internship was funded by the Scott and Anne Perper Internship Fund.
