Advocating for voters of Maine’s Second Congressional District

The Office of Congressman Jared Golden in Lewiston, Maine provides services to the constituents of Maine’s Second Congressional District and assists the Congressman in advancing his legislative priorities in Congress.

During my internship, I helped constituents navigate federal agencies—including the IRS, the Social Security Administration, and the Department of State. I kept legislative staff informed by speaking with constituents on the phone, attending meetings across the district, and tracking local news. I researched legislative initiatives, wrote press releases, and drafted constituent correspondence.

This internship solidified my interest in public service. I learned how to communicate with constituents effectively and gained a deeper understanding of various federal agencies. My favorite part of the internship was interacting with constituents—whether it be working on an immigration case or meeting with small business owners to discuss the economic impacts of the pandemic.

This internship was funded by the Peter Buck Student Internship Fund.
