Brigham and Women’s Hospital Emergency Medicine Research
By Ben Ross ‘22This summer I worked on clinical research in the Emergency Department.
The ED Research Team at Brigham and Women’s works on multiple clinical studies at a time with the goal of finding ways to improve patient care in the ED.
My main project analyzed the impact of the pandemic on emergency room patients over time and by demographic groups. I also worked with chronically ill patients to try and see how care management could be improved.
It was exciting and educatiAonal to work in the emergency department especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was stressful, especially as cases began to rise at the end of the summer, but that provided a great window into the challenges of emergency medicine as a profession.
