Summer Intern
By Triana Willmert '22Bridgercare is a local nonprofit reproductive and sexual healthcare clinic in Bozeman, Montana. Their mission is to provide affordable reproductive and sexual healthcare and education to the surrounding community with support, care and empowerment. Bridgercare provides healthcare services to anyone and everyone regardless of their insurance and/or financial status. On the education side, Bridgercare promotes comprehensive sexual health education to the community youth.
As their summer intern, I worked mainly on the nonprofit side of the organization. The nonprofit development team fundraises in the community through a variety of outreach tactics in order to uphold Bridgercare's affordable healthcare services and health education. I implemented outreach strategies to develop new relationships with local partners, I developed effective reproductive health educational resources for community members, and I managed and created new content for their Instagram page.
I learned how a nonprofit operates efficiently and effectively. More specifically, I learned the ins and outs of a nonprofit healthcare organization. Overall, my experience with building new relationships between Bridgercare and other local partners was most impactful. I further developed my written and verbal communication skills, and my ability to create genuine business relationships in the process. I'm excited to use the knowledge I gained from working in both a healthcare and nonprofit setting in my future endeavors in the medical field.
This internship was provided by the Student Internship Fund.
