Faculty and student research into objects in the permanent collection enhances their scholarship as well as the institutional knowledge of the Museum. Curatorial staff can facilitate research by making the objects available for study if they are not on view and providing access to our digital and physical object files. Scholars are encouraged to share their research with the Museum for our records.
The Bowdoin College Museum of Art's collection numbers approximately 20,000 paintings, prints, drawings, photographs, sculptures and objects, only a fraction of which can be viewed on our website. To find out more about aspects of our holdings that may pertain to your research interests, or to view a particular artwork either in storage or in the Zuckert Seminar Room, please make an appointment with Andrea Rosen
, Curatorial Assistant.
To explore the Museum's comprehensive collection database, please make an appointment with Jennifer Edwards
, Curator of Visual Resources, Department of Art: firstname.lastname@example.org
; (207) 725-3699.
Students and faculty may request access to the curatorial object files for research. Files may contain previous research and publications on the work of art as well as information about past owners of the art objects. Please make appointments with Andrea Rosen
, Curatorial Assistant at least three business days in advance of your visit.
