Artur Kalandarov ’20 Publishes Scholarly Article on Soviet Germans and Soviets in Germany During World War II
Russian major Artur Kalandarov has published an article in the Armstrong Undergraduate Journal of History comparing the treatment of Soviets living under Nazi rule to that of ethnic Germans in the USSR during the same time period.
Kalandarov presented his research on the treatment of Soviets in the Third Reich and ethnic Germans in the USSR at the European and Eurasian Undergraduate Research Symposium at the University of Pittsburgh in April, 2018.
His work has now been published as a scholarly article in the Armstrong Undergraduate Journal of History. This research was originally undertaken with the mentorship of Page Herrlinger, associate professor in the history department.
Kalandarov was the recipient of the Alfred E. Golz Fellowship in summer 2018 and the McKeen Center’s Bowdoin Public Service Fellowship in summer 2019. He also received an honorable mention in the ACTR National Post-Secondary Russian Essay Contest in 2018.
