Michael Cato BostonCISO Orbie Finalist
By Bowdoin NewsMichael Cato, Bowdoin’s senior vice president and chief information officer, was a finalist for a 2025 BostonCISO ORBIE award in the nonprofit category.

The ORBIE awards honor chief information officers who have demonstrated excellence in technology leadership.
BostonCISO is a peer leadership network of chief information security officers (CISOs) in New England.
As one of more than forty chapters of the Inspire Leadership Network, BostonCISO is part of a national membership organization comprising leaders from public and private businesses, government, education, healthcare, and nonprofit institutions.
Cato helped launch Next Leaders Fellowship (NLF), a program that aims to build a framework to bring more Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) into the ranks of senior leadership within higher education information technology. Cato also serves as NLF’s fellowship director.
