Compagnie Difé Kako, directed by Chantal Loial

In Château Rouge, the French dance company Difé Kako sends us a humorous and tender perspective on  the famous African district of Paris.  Behind the cheerful bustle, the frenetic pace and laughter, discomfort intrudes: synthetic hair shops, harmful skin lightening cream—are these steps towards an unconscious process of “whitisation”?

Open to the public, free of charge. No tickets required. Patrons should plan to be seated by 6:45 pm.

Presented by the Studies in Beauty Initiative with assistance from the Department of Theater and Dance, and with funding from the Andrew Mellon Foundation, and the Alice Cooper Morse Fund for the Performing Arts.

Pickard Theater is located in Memorial Hall, on the corner of Bath Road and Maine Street.
