Therabot is a digital mental health project based at GEISEL School of Medicine at Dartmouth, Jacobson Rearch Laboratory. The goal of the project is to develop a chatbot-based application that provides patients with support using evidence-based therapeutic approaches. Therabot’s ambition is to provide immediate care for people who lack immediate access to a mental health professional.

Through the summer, our team prioritized using CBT modalities to create dialogues for breast cancer patients and people with social or performance anxiety.

My experience taught me how to adapt therapeutic techniques to different patient profiles diverse concerns. Using approaches like CBT and motivational interviewing, I learned how to create dialogues that guide patients toward developing their own insights and solutions. Working alongside clinical psychologists and psychiatrists and other students also strengthened my desire to pursue psychiatry and further my goal of making mental health care more accessible through technology.
