Students in Isolation: 2
Students who test positive for COVID-19 are moved into a facility set up for isolation. They are not permitted to leave their room. All meals are delivered to them and Bowdoin Health Services monitors their symptoms and progress via "telehealth." Students are allowed to return to their original residence hall only when they have been cleared by Health Services. During isolation, a care team of professionals from the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs, Residential Life, Counseling Services, and others work to ensure that isolated students receive the help and advocacy they need.
Students in Quarantine: 0
According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), people who are fully vaccinated do NOT need to quarantine after contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19 unless they have symptoms. In accordance with CDC guidance, the College will test fully vaccinated students daily for five days after exposure and faculty/staff on days 1, 3, and 5 after exposure. If these individuals test negative after day five, they will no longer be considered a close contact of someone with COVID-19.
