Polar Bears Across the Country Welcome President Safa Zaki

Hundreds of alumni, parents, and friends of the College turned out at receptions across the country to welcome President Safa Zaki.

Seattle

Nearly 120 alumni, parents, guests, and current students, came out for a special evening on March 12, 2024, at Seattle’s Chihuly Garden and Glass. Guests visited the galleries prior to entering the Glass House for the reception. With a stunning backdrop and sunny weather, Bowdoin couple Sean and Amy Bell, both of the Class of 1992, welcomed the crowd and introduced President Safa Zaki. Joining them at the event was their daughter Sophie Bell ’23.

Washington, DC

Two days later, 200 members of the Bowdoin community attended the welcome reception in Washington, DC, at Cornerstone Government Affairs, a venue overlooking the water and several national monuments and generously arranged by Todd Webster ’94. Trustee Kayla Baker ’09 welcomed the crowd and introduced President Zaki. In attendance were seventeen sophomores and two senior leaders from the Bowdoin Public Service in Washington program.

Naples

More than sixty alumni, parents, and guests welcomed President Zaki to Naples, Florida, on February 25. Sam Ladd ’63 and his wife, Nancy Ladd, generously hosted the group at the Naples Yacht Club.

Houston

Forty members of the Bowdoin community attended the welcome event in Houston, Texas, on February 29. Bobbitt Noel ’72 and his wife, Karen Noel, generously opened their home for the reception. Matt Ramos ’12, chair of the Alumni Fund, welcomed guests and introduced President Zaki.
