Class of 2024: Senior Class Engagement Campaign

By Bowdoin News
For over a decade, more than three hundred seniors in twelve different class years have helped to educate graduating seniors about all the ways in which they may stay connected to Bowdoin—from attending regional events and volunteering in various capacities to making their first gift to the Alumni Fund.

This year’s Senior Class Engagement Campaign (SCEC) was run by five seniors: Devin Bellevue, Eric Degodgy, Jai DuVal, Adelaide Hocking, and Julia Katherine Fiori.

These senior leaders kicked off their campaign with the Class of 2024 Soiree on BowdoinOne Day, timed to coincide with the countdown of one hundred days until Commencement. The event was one of the first class-specific gatherings for the Class of 2024 and included a photo booth, appearances by the Polar Bear mascot, and treats from Bowdoin Dining.

Throughout the semester, the seniors held tabling events in Smith Union and engaged in conversations with their peers about what it means to be part of the Bowdoin alumni community, how to stay connected, and the resources available at the College for them after they leave Brunswick.

In April, a generous anonymous donor offered to contribute to Bowdoin’s financial aid $100 for every senior who makes a gift to the College before Commencement on Saturday, May 25. As of May 21, 117 members of the senior class have participated.

When speaking with classmates about why she chose to give back to the College, DuVal says she shares a bit of her own story.

“I am proud to say that Bowdoin’s financial aid package gave me the opportunity to attend a school that provided me with a rigorous education and an alumni network like no other,” she said. “Your donation could support a future me or a future Bowdoin student who will sit in the seat you are sitting in right now!”
