Denver Polar Bears Join Professor Doris Santoro to Talk 'Teacher Burnout'

By Alumni Relations

Denver area alumni, parents and friends gathered at the History Colorado Center for a presentation and reception featuring Associate Professor of Education, Doris Santoro.

Professor Santoro is at the forefront of the national debate about the crisis facing the teaching profession. Her book Demoralized: Why Teachers Leave the Profession They Love and How They Can Stay assesses what policymakers and educational leaders might do to address the worsening US teacher shortage and has resonated widely among teachers and their allies across the nation. The topic was particularly relevant to the Denver area as local teachers recently held a 3 day strike.

Following the talk, the group enjoyed a reception and connected with fellow Polar Bears.  Craig Hansen ’02 hosted and facilitated the event.
