Bowdoin vs. Colby Men's Hockey Fest

Hockey Book Talk

On Saturday, January 26, Bowdoin launched a celebration of Men’s Ice Hockey. The day began with a book talk titled “Bowdoin and the Wide World of Hockey: 1880- 2010” by Steve Hardy ’70 in Beam Classroom. More than forty Polar Bears, seven of whom were Steve’s former hockey teammates, sat riveted by Steve’s informative and highly entertaining presentation. Few minutes went by without a chuckle or a reaction from the audience.

Following the book talk, almost two hundred alumni, family, and friends gathered for the annual Bowdoin vs. Colby Men’s Hockey Game Dinner in Moulton Union. The delicious food, provided by the incredible Bowdoin Dining Services, greeted each guest with its aroma and gave a preview of the delightful tastes to follow.

The dinner guests filled the room with laughter, chatter, and good cheer, which only continued to grow over the course of the evening. Alice Wiercinski, associate director of athletics, delivered brief updates about athletic contests including Women's Basketball and an award opportunity concerning two Bowdoin athletes. At the end of the evening, the group made its way to Watson Arena to cheer the Polar Bears through an intense and fiercely competitive game.
