Traveling to Campus

Information on transportation options for students traveling alone and for students traveling with family and guests can be found below. The closest airport to Bowdoin is the Portland International Jetport, which is about 30 miles south of campus. Concord Trailways, a New England bus company, runs a bus from Portland to the campus daily.

Students Traveling with Family and Guests
A number of transportation options are available for families and guests who are traveling to campus with an incoming first-year student. For travel schedules and information please contact these services directly:

Students Traveling Alone

Transportation is available from Portland, Maine to Bowdoin for students traveling alone on either arrival day. If you would like to be picked up in Portland, please contact a student coordinator this summer with your travel plans. Be sure to include your name, the origin of your trip, airline name and flight number, or bus company and arrival time in any correspondence about travel; you are expected to arrive on campus on between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM on both arrival days. Orientation begins at 5:15 p.m. on August 29th.
