Hello Class of 2012,
Congratulations on your admission to Bowdoin! Though August is a while away, many of us at the College are already preparing for your arrival. Over the summer months, this website will be a resource to you about what to expect during Orientation and during your first semester at Bowdoin. Feel free to review the preliminary schedules for the Pre-Orientation trip arrival day (Tuesday, August 26th) and the first day of Orientation (Saturday, August 30th). Please note that your attendance at all Orientation events is required. Classes begin on Thursday, September 4th. In mid- April, you will be able to see course offerings for the Fall 2008 semester by following this link: http://www.bowdoin.edu/registrar/courseinfo/. Keep in mind that all new students will register for classes during Orientation.
In mid- May, you will receive at your home address a packet of information that includes several forms requiring your prompt attention, including the academic advising questionnaire and the all important housing preferences form. Keep an eye out for this packet.
In the meantime, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our office. Our first year team consists of Assistant First-Year Dean MaryBeth Mathews, Office Manager Beth Levesque and myself. Over the summer, we will have a student intern to answer your questions as well.
Best wishes for an enjoyable senior spring. We look forward to welcoming you to your new home in Brunswick, Maine in a few short months!
Cheers,
Mary Pat McMahon
Dean of First-Year Students
