U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Christopher Hill '74 To Leave Post For Academia

Story posted December 10, 2010

Christopher Hill '74, U.S. Ambassador to Iraq, has been named the new dean of the University of Denver's School of International Studies, one of the top international studies schools in the world, founded in 1964 by former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright's father.

In an in-depth and wide-ranging interview, Hill spoke at length with Bowdoin magazine about friendly persuasion, Whiffle golf and knowing when to pound the table.

He also speaks of what it's like to negotiate on behalf of a U.S. government that, in the past, has not always been willing to talk with its enemies.
