Laura Howells ’20 Publishes Analysis of the Current State of Russian Civil Society
Russian major Laura Howells recently published a piece in The Bowdoin Review titled “Inequality and State Influence in the Russian Third Sector.”
Howells received the Martha Reed Coles Summer Fellowship in the summer of 2018 to support her research project, “Women’s Non-Government Organizations in Russia: A Contemporary Analysis of Russian Civil Society and the Cultural and Political Representations of Gender," undertaken with the mentorship of Laura Henry, professor of government. This research led to Howells's publication of a substantial article in the Bowdoin Review (issue of April 2, 2019).
