MaineShare/United Way Workplace Campaign (September 30, 2021)

To the campus community,

Tomorrow, the College will launch its annual two-week workplace campaign in support of MaineShare and the United Way of Mid Coast Maine, an entirely voluntary program designed to help members of the Bowdoin community assist our neighbors in need.

As we all know very well, the last eighteen months have been filled with hardship, uncertainty, and loss for so many people, and that includes our neighbors here in Brunswick, in the midcoast region, and throughout our state. We have worked together throughout the pandemic to protect the health and safety of our campus community and also our community of neighbors and friends in Brunswick. These campaigns can help us do even more by working to prevent homelessness and hunger, assist families with child care and with keeping their homes warm in the cold months of winter, supporting organizations engaged in social justice, protecting the environment, and building economic opportunity, and through a host of other efforts to help Maine people.

Bowdoin’s 2021 workplace campaign in support of MaineShare and the United Way runs from Friday, October 1, through Friday, October 15. Additional information about the work and impact of MaineShare and United Way is available online.

Many of you have participated previously—last year our community raised more than $102,000 for these organizations—and I write to ask that you consider joining me, Julianne, and so many of your colleagues in renewing or adding your support. You may do so through convenient payroll deductions or through direct donations.
