Big Weekend Ahead for Bowdoin Athletics

By Bowdoin News
Two huge games this weekend headline one of the busiest Saturdays on the Bowdoin athletics calendar.

On Saturday afternoon, the Bowdoin and Amherst women’s basketball teams will battle in Division III’s game of the year in Morrell Gymnasium at 3:00 p.m.

It will be a rematch of the 2018 NCAA Championship game, won by Amherst, but the Polar Bears (17-0) enter the game as the top-ranked team in the nation while the Mammoths (16-1) come into the contest ranked fourth in the country.

Later that evening, the Bowdoin and Colby men’s ice hockey teams will play for the 212th time in their series history at 7:00 p.m. at Watson Arena. The teams, who played to a 3-3 tie in Waterville in December, are battling for playoff positioning in the hotly contested NESCAC standings.

Fans can watch both games live on the Northeast Sports Network. In addition to the two rivalry games this weekend, every other Bowdoin winter sports team is in action, including indoor track & field, swimming & diving, women’s ice hockey, men’s basketball, nordic skiing, and men’s and women’s squash.
