Whitney Soule, Bowdoin’s dean of admissions and financial aid, and Praise Hall ’20 spoke with U.S. News & World Report for an article about college programs “that pay for high-achieving high school seniors – who are usually low-income, first-generation or students of color – to visit campus, give teens who can’t afford to travel out of state for a college tour the opportunity to try the college experience.”

“It was a lot easier knowing that I had some sort of connection and establishment to the place where I was going to, so I didn’t have to worry about how everything was ultimately going to work together,” says Hall in the article.

“Be comfortable being uncomfortable; everything about this is different,” says Soule in the piece.

“You’re staying with people you don’t know, you’re traveling alone to get here – just embrace that this is an entirely new experience and really ask questions.” Read the article in U.S. News & World Report.
