LaPointe and Link

On Saturday, February 2, two legendary figures in Bowdoin Athletics were celebrated. A luncheon in honor of Mort LaPointe (Men’s Lacrosse head coach from 1970-1990) was held at Daggett Lounge in Thorne Dining Hall. The room was at capacity with over 120 current team members, alumni, and coaches. LaPointe was recently inducted into the Intercollegiate Men’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA) Hall of Fame.

That evening a birthday celebration organized by the Men’s Hockey team was held for Mike Linkovich at the Cram Alumni House.  For more than sixty years Linkovich — known to nearly all as “Link” has been a fixture on campus. Joining the College in 1954 as athletic trainer, Link was a member of the Bowdoin staff for 40 years, and still can be seen often in the athletic equipment room, at sporting events, and in the dining halls.
