9:30-9:30 a.m. EDT—President and Dean's Welcome
President Safa Zaki and Dean of Admissions and Student Aid Claudia Marroquin '06 will welcome admitted students and guests to Bearings in Brunswick.

9:30-10:30 a.m. EDT—Ask Us Anything: Deans and Students

Deans from Academic and Student Affairs will join students to answer your questions.

1:00 p.m-1:50 p.m. EDT —The First Year Academic Experience

Panelists will cover advising, first-year seminars, and academic resources for all students.

2:00 p.m-2:50 p.m. EDT —Outcomes and Pathways Panel
Panelists will discuss how Bowdoin prepares students to navigate in a complex world.

Safety and Security
The Safety and Security Communications Center, located in Rhodes Hall, is open 24/7 and can be reached at the following numbers: Emergencies: 207-725-3500; or Non-emergencies: 207-725-3314.

Accessibility and Special Assistance
Bowdoin College is committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive community. Individuals with questions or accommodation needs should stop by the check-in desk in Smith Union or call 207-725-3231.

Service Animals and Pets
Leashed pets are permitted outside on campus grounds. Pets are not permitted inside campus buildings unless serving as aids to individuals with disabilities.

Gender-Inclusive Bathrooms
Most buildings on campus, including the Admissions Office, have a gender-neutral bathroom available—most are single-stall, locking bathrooms labeled “private restroom.” Smith Union and the Bowdoin Outing Club have multi-stall, gender-neutral bathrooms with more privately constructed stalls.

Student Aid Office
Preregistration for individual appointments with a student aid representative is required, and space is limited. The Student Aid Office is located in Ashby House, 254 Maine Street.

Athletics
Students should make appointments directly with coaches. See goubears.com for contact information.

Thursday and Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Smith Union, Second Floor

Discounts
Discounts are available at the Bowdoin Store and several local eateries using the discount code “bowdoin2028.” A list of all discounts can be found in the Bearings in Brunswick app.

Dining
Lunch is provided on Friday in Thorne Dining Hall. Meal tickets are required and available at check-in.

Bowdoin College Museum of Art
Free and open to the public. Thursday: 10:00 a.m. – 8:30 p.m., Friday: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum
Free and open to the public. 10:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday.

Campus ATM
A Bank of America ATM is located on the lower level of David Saul Smith Union (to the right of the Bowdoin Express Convenience Store).

Medical Assistance
In the event of an emergency, contact Bowdoin Security at 207-725-3500. Mid Coast Hospital is a short distance from campus at 123 Medical Center Drive in Brunswick, or call 207-729-0181.

PARKING

Visitors are encouraged to park in the Farley Field House/Watson Arena parking lot located at 27 Watson Drive, Brunswick. It is a flat, 5-10 minute walk to Smith Union for Check-in. There are a limited number of accessible parking spaces on North and South Campus Drives.
 
Additional guest parking is available in the parking lot on Coffin Street. Parking is not allowed on College Street or Park Row. The campus map indicates locations of parking. See a map of all available campus parking here.

WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESS 

To access wireless internet from your computer, tablet, or smartphone, connect to Bowdoin’s “Bowdoin-Guest” network.

MEET WITH STUDENT AID

Preregister to meet with financial aid counselors during Bearings in Brunswick on April 18-19. We will be happy to answer your questions about the following.

  • Your financial aid notice
  • Your semester bill
  • Outside scholarships
  • Student/Parent financing (loans)

SAVE THE DATES

The orientation team and Office of the Dean of Students will be hosting Zoom sessions, as well as posting informative videos, on important topics during the week of June 10-14.

All calls will be recorded and posted for students and their families to access throughout the summer. The full schedule of Pre-Orientation events will be available by early May.
