7:30 p.m.
A talk by honorary degree recipient Dorothea Rockburne, abstract artist. Kresge Auditorium, Visual Arts Center.

Friday, May 27

8:30 a.m.
Commencement Welcome Table open in the Smith Union for up-to-date information and questions.

11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
Academic and Departmental Open Houses.

11:30 a.m.
Tours of the Bowdoin College Museum of Art Museum.

2:30 p.m.
A talk by honorary degree recipient Frank Shorter, Olympic gold medalist. Kresge Auditorium, Visual Arts Center.

4:30 p.m. Baccalaureate Ceremony
The Baccalaureate Ceremony, held in Watson Arena, marks the official close of the academic year and the coming together of graduates and their families. It includes remarks by President Clayton Rose, a speech by a graduating senior, and a keynote address by honorary degree recipient Darren Walker, president, Ford Foundation. Ample parking is available at the arena.

Down East Lobster Bake

5:30 p.m. Down East Lobster Bake
Immediately following Baccalaureate, join us for the Down East Lobster Bake. Tent adjacent to Farley Field House (next to Watson Arena). Entrance on Coffin Street. Seating is available in the Field House. Meal tickets are required.



Saturday, May 28

8:20 a.m.Seniors meet at Baxter House to check in and form parade.

9:05 a.m.
Alumni meet in front of the Chapel to form parade. Faculty meet in front of Hubbard Hall.

9:20 a.m.
Seniors begin Commencement Processional March from in front of Baxter House. Families and guests of graduates should plan to be seated by 9:20 a.m.to view the Processional March.

10:00 a.m. 211th Commencement Exercises
The Commencement ceremony will be held outside in front of the Bowdoin College Museum of Art, except in the case of severe weather. If it’s raining, bring an umbrella and other rain gear. No tickets are necessary for the outdoor ceremony, and you may bring as many guests as you wish. In the event of severe weather, the ceremony will be held in the Sidney J. Watson Arena. Information regarding notification and details for an indoor ceremony will be shared with families later in the spring.  

Noon. Commencement Luncheon
For graduates and their families, alumni, faculty, staff, and guests. The luncheon will be held at Farley Field House. Meal tickets are required.  Note: Shuttle buses are available to transport guests from the Commencement Exercises to the luncheon; buses pick up in front of Moulton Union. Golf carts are also available; golf carts pick up in front of the Chapel.
