Bowdoin Leadership Development
Overview
Leadership Development at Bowdoin is a new Student Affairs initiative that aims to educate and empower students to lead with purpose, compassion, courage, and for the Common Good. Our goal is to support students in their journey of leadership exploration and growth by offering transformational leadership experiences.
Why develop student leaders?
At Bowdoin, we believe that all students – YOU! – are capable of becoming great leaders.
We believe that leadership is a practical skill, that can be learned and developed through intentional practice.
We believe leadership is not about your title but rather who you are as a person and your ability to positively influence those around you.
We believe leadership is necessary to effect change and make a difference, and to live an intentional and fulfilling life.
And we are committed to preparing all students to be “leaders in all walks of life.”
How do I get involved?
The Division of Student Affairs currently oversees an array of programs for leadership development ranging from community and culture-building activities; athletics; volunteer and public service programs; student government and other student organizations and affinity groups; residential programs; and outdoor wilderness experiences.
If you’re looking for ways to get involved and practice your skills, look no further.
