Allyson Gonzalez

Allyson Gonzalez studies Jewish cultures of the modern Mediterranean and Atlantic Worlds with a focus on the Sephardic Diaspora and on Jewish-Christian and Jewish-Muslim relations. Gonzalez has taught at Yale University and Florida State, as well as the University of Chicago and Brandeis University. Most recently affiliated with the University of Potsdam in Germany and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Gonzalez’s work has been supported by two Fulbright fellowships (Mexico, Israel), the German state of Brandenburg (Postdoc Network Brandenburg), and an Andrew Mellon Dissertation-Year Fellowship. Prior to her training in graduate school, Gonzalez was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize as a lead writer of a newspaper team. In 2018, she was co-awarded the New Voices in Jewish Studies Award from Columbia University and Fordham University. Her scholarly publications and translations have appeared in peer-reviewed venues like Stanford University Press and the Jewish Quarterly Review, as well as the Italian-based Quest: Contemporary Issues in Jewish History. She is currently revising a book-length manuscript and beginning work on a new project.
