2021 Celebration of Opportunity (March 18, 2021)

Dear faculty and staff,

I hope you will join me for a special event, Bowdoin’s first Celebration of Opportunity, to be held virtually on Thursday, May 20, at 3:00 p.m. ET.

This celebration will highlight a fundamental purpose and ambition of the College: to provide the life-changing educational and other opportunities that are central to the Bowdoin experience. Some of you have attended the Scholarship Appreciation Luncheon, an event held for many years to recognize the critical role of financial aid in creating opportunity. Our new event continues our appreciation for the resources that support financial aid while expanding our recognition to underscore the impact every donor makes on the experience of every Bowdoin student, in ways large and small.

I look forward to hosting the Celebration of Opportunity, which will include brief remarks from students and alumni as well as some student musical entertainment. You will receive an invitation with a link to the program closer to May 20. 

We are making all preparations for a return to a full campus in the fall, and I hope we will be able to hold this event in person next year; in the meantime, please join us in May to celebrate generosity, opportunity, and all that is special about Bowdoin.
