I am sorry to inform the College community of the death of Dianne Gutscher, associate special collections curator emerita. Dianne died on Tuesday, August 20, at Maine Medical Center as a result of complications following cardiac surgery. She was seventy-two.

I write with the sad news that Bowdoin has lost alumnus and Director of Theater Emeritus Ray Rutan, who had a profound impact on Bowdoin’s theater department over the course of five decades, from his entry to Bowdoin as a member of the class of 1951 through his retirement in 1993 from his position as director of theater.

Henry was killed in a car accident this morning in his hometown of St. Paul, Minnesota. His mother, who was a passenger in the car, was hurt in the accident but does not have serious injuries.
