Forty National Fellowships Awarded to Bowdoin Students, Alumni

Seventeen seniors have Fulbrights to teach or do research abroad. Others have Truman, Watson, Keasbey, and other awards to pursue studies or careers in fields stretching from teaching to philosophy, engineering to public service.

Not reflected in the posters below, because the notifications came in after deadline, are two Critical Language Scholarship winners: Isabel Udell ’19 and Joseph Hilleary ’20. The scholarships promote the study of languages less commonly taught in American institutions. Udell will study Hindi in Jaipur, India, and Hilleary will study Arabic in Meknes, Morocco.

Additionally, Lucy Luo ’16 has received a Princeton in Africa fellowship to work with the African Leadership Academy in Johannesburg, South Africa, next year.
